Small business, work at home Mum…No show payment? What next?
With more and more people setting up small businesses everyday as we climb out of the recession.
·
I wonder how many of those have been let down by clients not paying?
Let’s say you work your little (or big) ass off all week to meet a client’s deadline. You are proud of what you have achieved
and excited about your future prospects working with this new client.
You send your hard work via email, smiling at the finished result. The client emails back patting you on the back so you then send your statement/ invoice for the hours you both agreed for the project.
You sit back patiently waiting for a response…
Nothing.
You sit back and wait a little longer for the money to show in your bank account, but still…nothing.
Not even a reply, the client goes quiet and a week passes, with still yep you guessed it, nothing.
·
What next? ·
Who should you speak to?
What do you need to do?
Can you do anything about it?
You feel very irritated, used and downright annoyed that you fell for a crook, but you don’ have to just sit and ponder,
there is help out there.
Firstly, send two letters seven days apart requesting payment within seven days of the email/letter. In the second letter
explain that if you do not receive the money then you will be forwarding the case to a small claims court
Secondly head straight over to the Government website links below and fight the case, try to get what is rightfully yours paid
to you..
Good luck.
