The six weeks holiday have started and i am enjoying every second of this amazingly hot weather.
I am concentrating on potty training Noah, at first I thought, hell this kid is quick at getting the gist of peeing in a potty, he beamed as he raced past me, running to the toilet with his elder sister with not a single accident in four hours obviously my head began to swell with pride, I started to type up a blog post and it was going along the lines of:
Potty training seems to be easier with my second child because....
He is more confident than my daughter was with toilet training.
He drinks less fluid than his sister.
He is the younger sibling so has someone to imitate and learn from.
He is concentrating on motor skills because he still isn't talking very well.
He is more in tune with his body and less absorbed in activities.
Stay with me here... however after my confident start this morning I want you to scrap everything I have written above.
In my opinion potty training is damn hard, exhausting and requires a lot of determination. I have needed eyes in the back of my head, I don't think it matters if you are a first time mother or just about ready to pop out number nine on the babyometer, potty training will only happen when the child wants and excepts they need to use the potty!
Today I have had to mop up just about every accident under the sun! I have given every ounce of my energy to Noah today, I have followed him around with a potty, I've encouraged, clapped, praised and bitten my lip but still the accidents keep on coming.
I will not give up, it isn't an option. Day two tomorrow, my daughters fourth birthday, I refuse to give in to the pull- up nappy temptation.
Give me luck.
